We’re back with more Fuzz Wars here at PedalsAndEffects and this time Jonathan Hischke (Dot Hacker, Hella, Broken Bells) and I review four under the radar fuzz pedals! This installment features Heavy Electronic’s Grind Fuzz, Idiot Box’s Blasteroid Fuzz, Fuzzrocious’s Heliotropic and Pedal File’s “The Fuzz Where There Was No Fuzz Before” (man, that name sucks). Of these four rarities, they all had the potential to create noisy and over the top tones, but the Blasteroid and awkwardly-named Pedal File inspired me to play in a different direction. Check out the video to hear which one stimulates your musical senses and let us know your favorite in the comment section below.
Once again, I got to thank Jonathan Hischke for tuning the knobs while I manned the bass. I’d also like to send a shout out to these four, as well as any other pedal manufacturer, who continue to develop distinctive and unusual fuzz boxes!
