So the last couple of posts have been about a few pedals I recently acquired while I was on tour with Deltron 3030. Digging in the used music store crates, you can find some real gems, or in this case, hear pedals that you always thought were good and they you realize they are great and you can’t live without them. This is the case with the late 70’s MXR vintage Stereo Chorus and the 70’s vintage Electro Harmonix Micro Synthesizer I found. What I decided to do, to further prove that these pedals are worth their price point, is combine these two pedals to see just how massive I could get my bass to sound!
In this video, I tried directions with the pedal chaining. The first attempt was having the Boss CS-2 into the MXR Stereo Chorus into the Electro Harmonix Micro Synthesizer. Then I flipped it and put the Boss CS-2 into the Microsynth into the MXR. Both have some wild results but I do prefer the last combination. The chorus really helps achieve that synthesizer quality while the fuzz and sub on the Micro Synthesizer makes my bass sound bigger than I have ever heard!
Well now you know what I think, I would love to know your opinions right here on PedalsAndEffects. What do you think of this combination? What do you think of the vintage gear vs today’s reissues? Are there pedals that can achieve a similar sound? Do you think it is worth paying a little extra for vintage pedals?
Happy Holidays from PedalsAndEffects!
