Canada has its own pedal phenomenon happening with great companies like Fairfield Circuitry and SolidGoldFX building unique and amazing stompboxes. Recently, a close friend of mine emailed me and asked if a small pedal builder from Calgary, Canada could send me a pedal for review. That company turned out to be Tone Hungry Effects. There is not a lot of information about this new company but here is what I know about their Hunger Bender I reviewed.
“The Hunger Bender is based off the MKIII Tone Bender circuit from the 1970s. The Hunger Bender brings some unique component changes to this circuit to create a new animal that combines the qualities of overdrive and fuzz to help today’s musicians recreate the tones from the past, but with added fatness gain.” I found this pedal to be great on guitar and really good on bass.
