Today’s Show Me Your Pedalboard entry comes from Nate! Nate is a bass player who used to play bass but only recently picked up a year or so ago and got deep into effects pedals! There is nothing wrong with taking a break from music, life happens, there is no shame in it at all. Music isn’t a “race,” musicianship is to be enjoyed at your own pace. Music is a unique experience to everyone that’s what makes it so beautiful. Let’s take a look at what Nate is rocking out with:
First and foremost, Nate’s board is all his pedals laid out onto the board, no cabling, wiring etc. This is a great way of visualizing what works best on the board and it gives you the option for last minute additions/changes. It’s also a great way of knowing how many cables/power supplies you really need (which could save you money!) Although for your power supply needs, may I recommend the MXR Iso cube? On with the board! Here’s Nate’s chain in rapid fire:
Korg Pitchblack Tuner: Great tuner! Also available in different colors.
MXR Bass Compressor: Good placement, don’t move it.
Digitech Bass Synth Wah: Classic!
Sansamp Bass Driver DI: You could probably remove this since you already have the compressor, it also takes up a lot of space.
EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff: I’d move both the fuzz and the overdrive further up in the chain.
Digitech Polara: A great reverb by the guys over at Digitech! (Check out the interview we did with Digitech Head Honcho Tom Cram) I’d move this closer to the end of the signal chain.
