One thing I found out during the polls we conducted during our 12 Days of PedalsAndEffects giveaway was that you’re all interested in knowing more about pedals and who uses them- not just bassists, but all musicians. So I’ve listened to your requests, and am happy to give you our very first video featuring a guitarist.
Still in his teens, Henry Kohen, AKA Mylets, is on his way to becoming a true trailblazer. This is a musician who has a vision and knows how to execute it. At this young age, Henry has his debut release coming out on Sargent House, has racked up some pretty great reviews and continues to blow people away with his one man band approach.
I met Henry at a Big Sir soundcheck, here in Los Angeles, when he came by because he was hoping to catch our set. I mentioned that since he was under twenty one, I would have to sneak him in and there would always be the possibility that he may get thrown out of the venue. Henry decided not to risk it, but we exchanged numbers and I asked if he would be in to the idea of showcasing some of his guitar pedals and appearing on PedalsAndEffects. Luckily for me (and all of you!) he was interested, and so here he is, the debut of the first guitarist guest on PedalsAndEffects!
I think it is very impressive how Henry layers his guitar parts, and pedals are a big part of his sound. Harmonically, his guitar layering is very musical, but sonically they make him unique and special. His layering requires a lot of pedal dancing (as you can see in the video) but the results are truly amazing.
