When I think of touring the east coast in the summer, I think of hot, humid and sticky weather. I bring extra shirts for all the sweating I do. In this weird weather the world seems to be experiencing lately, I was over prepared for a hot summer that only got into the 90’s once in the four weeks I was touring it. Lucky for me, I brought a thin jacket but I can say that I never used it, as the weather was absolutely perfect for touring!
After playing three festivals in Europe at the end of June, Deltron 3030 started the US segment of the summer tour. Though we started in the midwest, we quickly headed east after our Canadian shows and I could not have asked for better climate. The shows in Ohio were awesome and I finally got to perform and have a proper Kentucky whiskey in Louisville. I got to see the crew from Earthquaker Devices at the Cleveland show and I started a string of clinics for them at Guitar Emporium in Louisville. Great start to a great tour!
Soon after the midwest, we went up to Canada to do a club show and a festival. In Toronto I did another Earthquaker Devices clinic at Moog Audio and then played in front of the largest crowd of my career in Montreal. The Montreal Jazz Festival is a summer long festival that they do in the streets of Montreal and this year, Deltron 3030 were asked to close this summer’s run. We played in front of 70,000+ people and from my point of view, I could not see the end of the crowd from the stage!
The tour bus headed back to the US, aiming east and continued to enjoy the best summer weather, ever! I did another clinic at Empire Guitars in Providence, Rhode Island. We had a great turnout and knowing that Providence is an art school town, I really stretched the Earthquaker Devices pedalboard to its extreme. I am pretty sure I sold a few Afterneaths after that clinic!
The tour continues going back between US and Canadian cities and we have another rememberable time at another Canadian festival! This time, Deltron 3030 was asked to perform at the Ottawa Bluesfest and we get the ride of our lives! We end up meeting rapper Action Bronson via his hijacking of our golf cart that was taking us to catering. This dude pulls the driver out of his seat and sits down next to me and starts to rap while driving through the festival!
More to come!
